CIPHERKIN / SUPPORT
A hand with your secrets.
Cipherkin is available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store.
How do messages work?
Write a note and seal it, then send the sealed text through Messages, email, or any app in the share sheet. The recipient copies it (in Messages, touch and hold the message, then tap Copy), opens Cipherkin, taps Open and then Paste, and watches it open. Both people need the app.
Are free messages private?
No. Free Classic Cipher notes are sealed with a password built into the app, so anyone with Cipherkin can open them. They’re for fun, not for secrets. With the unlock, you can protect a note with your own password. Short passwords are easy to guess, so use a longer one, such as a few unrelated words, for anything you want kept private. Share that password in person or by a call, not alongside the message.
Will recipients need to pay?
No. Opening messages in every theme is always free, including notes protected with a password. The US $1.99 one-time purchase (shown in your local currency in the app) unlocks creating messages with Arcane Runes, Secret Agent, Pirate’s Code and future themes, and setting your own password. You can preview every theme on the unlock page first. Classic Cipher is free.
I bought the unlock. How do I get it on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Cipherkin, then tap Settings (the gear on the home screen) and Restore Purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What if a message won’t open?
Check that the whole message was copied, from the “CK1:” at the start to the end, and that the password is exactly right, including capital letters and spaces. If Cipherkin says the message needs a newer version, update the app. Cipherkin can’t recover a forgotten password, and nobody else can either: there are no accounts or servers.
